Randstad survey reveals Singaporeans' desire for flexible work options post-pandemic

Randstad Singapore, a top global HR solutions firm, revealed that 42% of local respondents expressed their hope for flexible work post-COVID-19 where employees would alternate between remote and office-based work. Additionally, 14% of those surveyed stated that they would prefer to work from home exclusively.

This survey comprised at least 400 respondents in each of the 34 markets that it covered across the globe and targets issues that are mainly of interest to candidates in today’s job market. However, striking a balance between personal life and organisational culture remains one of the most difficult tasks for an individual.

According to this survey findings, while 19% want flexible working hours another 11% would like to have an opportunity to work from anywhere including home. This has an impact on work-life balance as well as the changing candidate expectations concerning employment in a “new normal”. Apart from flexibility arrangements, there are multiple other ideals and objectives that candidates now focus on such as:

  • Pay protection (61%)
  • Training opportunities (44%)
  •  Health policies and safety protocols (39%)
  •  Job security (37%)
  •  Health insurance (34%)

With changing trends in employment structures, distance working is increasingly becoming a viable option. Thus employers should refocus their employment contracts encompassing flexibility without compromising the values of their organisation.
