ComfortDelGro group CEO Yang Ban Seng appointed new SBS Transit CEO

From January 15, ComfortDelGro group CEO Yang Ban Seng will be new SBS Transit's executive deputy chairman and chief executive. Owned by ComfortDelGro, SBS Transit announced Yang's appointment in a Singapore Exchange filing.

Yang will replace Gan Juay Kiat, who resigned last month over a "personal indiscretion". Yang has been the group chief executive of ComfortDelGro, as well as deputy chairman of SBS Transit since May 1, 2017. Yang Ban was recommended by SBS chairman Lim Jit Poh to the board.

According to a report by The Strait Times, "The bus and railheads will report directly to him and I have every confidence that the team will continue to focus on delivering good service to the communities we serve," Lim, the SBS chairman said.

Yang was the chief executive of taxi business at ComfortDelGro, before taking over as group CEO and managing director.

Prior to joining the Group in 1989, Yang served as Assistant Director of the Ministry of Education, Deputy Director of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the National Trades Union Congress’ (NTUC) Secretary for Co-operatives. At the NTUC’s May Day Awards in 2013, he was awarded the Medal of Commendation.

He holds a Bachelor of Science (Operations Research and Statistics) (Hons) from the University of Manchester and a Master of Business Administration from the National University of Singapore.
