Michael Chiang named Foxconn assembly biz new chief

Apple supplier Foxconn has reportedly named Michael Chiang as the new business chief of its iPhone assembly business.

He has succeeded Wang Charng-yang, a long-time leader and head of the iPhone assembly division, says a Bloomberg report.

Formally known as Hon Hai Precision Industry, Taiwan-based multinational electronics contract manufacturer Foxconn operates the world’s largest iPhone production factory for Apple.

In November last year, Foxconn Technology Group announced plans to hire 100,000 workers to resume production of iPhone manufacturing for the holiday season. The factory, considered the world’s largest iPhone producer, is based out of the central Chinese city of Zhengzhou.

In another development, Apple announced its plan to hire employees for upcoming physical stores in India giving credence to earlier anticipation about the tech giant's expansion plan in the country, which is one of the largest smartphone markets in the world.
