New-York based online trading firm OANDA appoints new Chief Product Officer

Kurt vom Scheidt joins New York-based online trading firm OANDA as Chief Product Officer.

Scheidt brings with him over three decades of experience in IT and BFSI sectors. He will be based in OANDA’s London office and will focus on developing the company’s product strategy, supporting growth plans for years to come.

“We are extremely pleased to welcome Kurt to OANDA. A proven industry veteran with a successful track record, he brings with him an unparalleled knowledge of the sector and a deep-seated understanding of the foreign exchange market”, said Tim Howkins, Chairman, OANDA.

Former Global Head of FX at Saxo Bank, Scheidt spearheaded the global FX business of Saxo Bank.  In his 11 year tenure with the Bank, he performed multiple roles and successfully executed the automation of client order execution. Prior to Saxo Bank, he worked with GFI Group, Commerzbank AG, Deutsche Bank and FNX Limited.

Looking forward to his new role, Scheidt said "Over the years, OANDA has earned a reputation for combining state-of-the-art technology with a unique customer-focused approach, offering access to an award-winning trading platform, advanced charting applications, technical analysis, open order books, and economic overlays that provide greater clarity over the markets. As such, I very much look forward to building on the foundations of this approach and defining how our product strategy can further help our clients succeed."

Launched in 1995, OANDA created an FX trading platform that offered data on exchange rate to users, free of cost. The company pioneered online currency trading. Today the organization is an industry leader offering foreign exchange expertise in six of the world’s most active financial markets. Transforming the foreign exchange industry, they offer superlative expertise to their retail and corporate clients with currency data, multi-asset trading and analytics.

Scheidt's experience combined with OANDA's market dominance has the potential to grow the company exponentially in the coming years.
