Remote appoints Barbara Matthews as Chief People Officer
Barbara Matthews has been appointed as the Chief People Officer of Remote, a company that specialises in building, managing, and supporting global distributed workforces.
In her role, she owns the strategic planning, implementation, and scalability of the company through its distributed team around the world.
Matthews joins Remote from Stripe, where she helped build the company’s global HR function as its International Head of HR, EMEA & APAC. Prior to Stripe, she spent more than 12 years on the People team at Google. Matthews will work from her chosen location in the world – Dublin, Ireland. She reports directly to Job van der Voort, co-founder and CEO of Remote.
"As a fully remote company with team members located across the globe, we recognise that our success hinges on having a people-first approach to our work. Barbara’s experience in building and nurturing high-performing distributed teams will be invaluable as we continue to grow,” said Voort.
“My focus as Chief People Officer will be to ensure that we provide an environment where our employees can thrive and grow, and to build a culture that supports our vision of making opportunities accessible to everyone,” added Matthews.
