SEEK appoints new MDs for Jobstreet in Singapore and Malaysia

SINGAPORE – SEEK, the parent company of Jobstreet and JobsDB, has announced two significant leadership changes as part of its strategic push for growth in Southeast Asia.

Vic Sithasanan, who has been at the helm of Jobstreet in Malaysia since 2021, will now take on the role of Managing Director for Jobstreet Singapore. Meanwhile, Nicholas Lam, formerly Regional Head of Growth and Monetisation for SEEK Asia, will step into Sithasanan’s previous role as MD of Jobstreet Malaysia.

SEEK said the appointments underscore the group’s commitment to strengthening its foothold in two of the region’s most competitive job markets.

Immense opportunities in Singapore

SEEK highlighted how Sithasanan’s tenure in Malaysia was marked by milestones, including nearly doubling the company’s revenue and forging partnerships with key employers across diverse sectors.

“I’m excited about this new chapter in Singapore,” Sithasanan said. “The opportunities in this market are immense with Singapore being one of the leading business and talent hubs not just in the region, but in the world.”

Sithasanan takes pride in his success growing companies in his previous endeavours.

“I look forward to leveraging my experience to drive our strategic vision forward while delivering value to talent and employers in the country,” he said.

Impactful change in Malaysia

Lam, who joined SEEK in 2018, brings a track record of shaping and executing commercial strategies that have fuelled regional expansion, SEEK said.

The new MD for Malaysia also previously served in senior leadership roles in the media industry and as a management consultant specialising in strategy and operations transformation across various sectors.

Today, Lam aims to build on Jobstreet’s 25-year legacy, fostering connections between talent and businesses while advancing workforce development.

“It’s an incredible privilege to step into this role and lead the charge in advancing our mission,” Lam said.

“Working alongside our talented team in Malaysia, I’m excited to engage directly with job seekers and employers to drive impactful changes in the job market. Together, we will empower individuals to unlock their full potential, connect them with opportunities that transform their lives, and create a stronger, more dynamic workforce for the future,” he said.

SEEK said the leadership transition comes as the company continues to enhance its digital recruitment platforms, catering to millions of users across Asia.

Innovations ahead

Last week, SEEK also made headlines for a new system for job candidates to present verified credentials on the Jobstreet and Jobsdb platform.

Recognised in six markets across Asia, the verified credential “passport” called SEEK Pass is designed to help job seekers stand out in an increasingly competitive market, SEEK said.

“In Asia, the average number of applications per job ad on Jobstreet and Jobsdb has increased by 83% in the first three quarters of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. This makes it more challenging for job seekers to be noticed easily, and for employers to sift through the high volume of applications to find the right candidate,” the company said.

The launch of SEEK Pass in Asia follows its success in the Australia-New Zealand market, where job applicants with the passport are said to be 10% more likely to be shortlisted than applicants without verified credentials.

“We’re excited about helping millions of job seekers across Asia who use Jobstreet and Jobsdb to stand out with verified credentials when they look for their next role,” said Xavier Russo, General Manager of SEEK Pass.
