US based EV company Workhorse appoints Richard F. Dauch as Chief Executive Officer

US-based EV maker Workhorse Group recently announced the appointment of Richard (Rick) Dauch as Chief Executive Officer. Dauch will replace Duane Hughes, ex COO - Corning & JV Rockwell Publishing Inc, and take charge effective August 2, 2021. Hughes, who served the company as a CEO for a period of 2 years, will offer consultancy services to Workhorse through the transition period.

Dauch, ex-CEO of a vehicle propulsion systems maker Delphi Technologies, will also be part of the Workhorse’s Board of Directors. He is eager to start creating leading-edge solutions for stakeholders and customers, as the company transitions at the moment. From being an advanced technology start-up to a leading manufacturer of last-mile delivery solutions including electric truck and drone delivery technologies, Workhorse has come a long way. With more than 350 last-mile electric delivery vehicles and seven million miles on the road, Workhorse aims to conquer a share of the $20Bn market in the last mile electric delivery vehicle space.

Dauch expressed his excitement about leading the team as the company continues to ramp up operations, integrate the supply base and refine last-mile delivery solutions to meet the needs of expanding customer base. Workhorse’s Board of Directors also announced that the Company was withdrawing its formerly stated guidance during this leadership transition. The aim is to give Dauch enough time to own the role with his own values of due diligence and strategize work models that work for him.

Announcing the news of Dauch’s appointment, Ray Chess, the Non-Executive Chairman of the Company’s Board of Directors, applauded Dauch for the rich and extensive experience of 25 years with public and privately traded companies he brought with himself. He also expressed faith in Dauch, lauding his leadership capabilities, industry expertise, customer focus, and successful operational track record. All of that makes him ideally suited to lead Workhorse into its next phase of operational ramp-up and growth during this dynamic industry shift to electric last-mile delivery services.

With over 25 years of experience, Richard Dauch, who started his career with United Technologies and also served in the U.S. Army as an Officer, has handled a number of leadership roles, managed and successfully executed spin-offs and mergers in his previous work stints.
