Lenovo DCG appoints APAC Storage Leader

Lenovo Data Center Group last week announced the appointment of Nigel Lee as Storage Leader for the Asia Pacific region. Lee, who has 23 years' industry experience, will be responsible for Lenovo DCG's service and sales strategy to cater to what the company describes as a "massive increase in data storage needs across the region." While the announcement did not include predictions around the future growth of data storage demand, a December 2019 forecast by consultancy firm GlobalData suggests that the Asia Pacific data center and hosting services market could reach US$32 billion by 2023—an estimate that has likely increased significantly this year due to the boom in remote working and associated services.

Prior to joining Lenovo DCG, Lee spent 19 years at NetApp, where he held a number of senior leadership roles in the Asia Pacific, including heading the hybrid cloud infrastructure team.

“Nigel brings with him an understanding of both the needs of enterprise storage sales, as well the subtleties and differences between the Hyperconverged, Hybrid Cloud and On-Prem Data offerings," said Sumir Bhatia, President at Lenovo DCG Asia Pacific. "This will be a big advantage for the team, and we’re ecstatic to have him on board.”
