China leads Asia rise in global university employability ranking

A global employability ranking, designed by Emerging human resources consulting firm and published by Times Higher Education, revealed the top 150 institutions for employability.  

France, Germany, and China are among the best-represented countries in the employability ranking, along with the United Kingdom and the United States. Both Germany and Japan have an institution in the top 10, with Chinese and Canadian universities also appearing high in the ranking.

Top universities for employability 

The oldest and the most prestigious college in the United States Harvard University is at number one.  Over 30 heads of state are Harvard alumni and the university also boasts 48 Nobel prize winners and 48 Pulitzer winners. 

California Institute of Technology, considered as one of the best universities in the world ranked second in university employability ranking.

MIT students, alumni, and faculty members play key roles in entrepreneurial innovations, including developing advanced computer networks and securing venture capital transactions. The list is followed by University of Cambridge and Stanford University.

East and Southeast Asia

A total of 26 East and Southeast Asian institutions are featured in the top 150 this year including Japan, South Korea, Singapore, China, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. There are seven universities in China in the top 150. National University of Singapore and The University of Tokyo have made it to the top 10. The University of Malaysia is ranked as 149 this year.

58 universities in Europe including Germany, France, The United Kingdom, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Spain, Denmark, Finland, and Sweden are ranked among the top 150 universities.   

This ranking is based on a survey in 22 countries of about 7000 operational managers working in companies with high volumes of recruitment of young graduates, and responsible for sourcing and monitoring these recruitments in their teams.
