Linkedin unveils Top 25 startups in Australia: Immutable, Zepto, Reejig, Dovetail & Fleet Space take top 5 spots

Australia is on the path to becoming the poster child of the startup world, if media sources are to be believed. The continent has recently produced world-class firms such as Atlassian, Canva and many more that are yet in the pipeline.

Keeping their start-up heroes in mind, the largest online professional network LinkedIn has released its '2022 LinkedIn Top Startups List' for the Australia region. The list has the names of the firms, that rose to the challenge of the moment and continued to innovate and gain attention in 2022.

The list reveals the top 25 startups by utilising the platform date from July 2021 to June 2022 across four pillars:

  2. Jobseeker interest
  3. Member engagement
  4. Talent pull and retention (based on Linkedin Top Companies list)

Tech firm Immutable leads the pack followed by Zepto, Reejig, Dovetail and Fleet Space Technologies in the Top 5.

Almost 2.5% of the world's tech unicorns — privately held companies valued at more than $1 billion — have been founded in Australia, even though the country's global share of GDP is just 1.6%. It's prompted hopes Australia could overtake Singapore, China and Japan to become the main tech hub for the Asia-Pacific region.

But while Australia's economy may be faring better than those of Europe and the US, according to a recent OECD report, an environment of rising interest rates, rampant inflation and global economic headwinds have created a challenging landscape for young companies to get investment and grow quickly — pushing them to take a deeper look at expansion plans and ensure they're hiring the right talent.
