New career program for SAF servicemen from SG Govt

Workforce Singapore (WSG) has launched a new initiative that will help Retiring Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) members of the armed forces to get a second career in the logistics and supply chain industry. 

Under this program, Servicemen will for workshops training conducted by the Supply Chain and Logistics Academy (Scala) as well as a forty-day attachment with a logistics company during their last year of service.

WSG's objective is to sustain the employability of experienced, older workers from different backgrounds. The plan is to provide employers with another pool of manpower. All the enrolled servicemen are likely to benefit in the coming two years.

While announcing the program, Manpower Minister,  Josephine Teo, shared that supply chain and logistics industry is undergoing a wave of transformation driven by technological advances, such as e-commerce, data analytics, and automated logistics and supply chain systems.

"Far from shedding jobs, the industry is calling for a stronger pipeline of talent in new roles to support business growth," she added.

Other than the program for retiring servicemen,  she also announced that another 150 places would be added to the Professional Conversion Programme (PCP) for supply chain professionals.
