Mukesh Ambani’s daughter Isha set to take over reins of Reliance Retail
In another move made by Mukesh Ambani to secure his successors, his daughter Isha Ambani has been announced to take over Reliance Retail as the new chairperson. She is currently the director of Reliance Retail Ventures Limited.
The announcement comes just a day after her twin brother Akash Ambani was named the new chairperson of Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd, a move part of the 65-year old billionaire’s succession plan in the $217 billion group.
Reliance Retail and Reliance Jio are subsidiaries of the family’s oil-to-telecom conglomerate, of which the Reliance Industries Ltd. is the flagship firm. Mukesh Ambani is chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries.
Both Isha and Akash have both been part of teams that negotiated Meta Platforms Inc.’s investment in the group and made waves by onboarding new technology and methods into the industry behemoth.
Isha, 30, is an alumnus of prestigious Yale University. The twins have a younger brother, Anant, 27, who is an alumnus of Brown University.
