Factory worker succumbs in Thailand after manager denies sick leave

After the untimely demise of Anna Sebastian Perayil, a promising young professional at Ernst & Young (EY) Pune, shocking news from Thailand has sparked widespread outrage over corporate work culture and handling employee welfare. 

In a tragic incident in Thailand, an employee passed away after being reportedly denied sick leave despite serious health concerns by her manager.

The deceased identified as May worked at Delta Electronics in the Samut Prakan province. This incident has raised significant questions about employee welfare, sick leave policies, and employers' responsibility in prioritising their staff's health and well-being. Investigations are underway as the company faces growing criticism for handling the situation.

Expressing concern over the death of the employee, Delta Electronics has initiated a probe into the matter with care, transparency, and fairness. The matter is being investigated by the Department of Labor Protection and Welfare. “At this time, the Department has not raised any concerning issues. Please note that the investigation remains ongoing. We will continue to keep the public informed and will share updates as new information becomes available,” reads a statement issued by Delta Electronics.
