HSS Engineers find potential in ASEAN

Malaysia-based HSS Engineers Berhad, an engineering and project management solutions firm, is looking at the ASEAN region for further progress. They are also looking towards Indonesia and the Philippines apart from India.

This renewed interest in the ASEAN region is because of the recent large-scale investments in the public sector when it comes to transportation infrastructure and economic development.

The Ministry of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change has recently changed the nation’s target of renewable energy levels to 20 percent by 2030. Previously, the target was set at two percent.

Incorporated as a public limited company in 2015, HSS Engineers Berhad operates out of Kuala Lumpur and Penang in Malaysia in addition to Chennai in India. At present, the company consists of more than 1000 employees out of which more than 50 percent are engineers.

The company is expanding its focus towards the power sector including renewable energy sources, for example, solar, biomass and biogas.

The engineers provide core services and project management consultancy solutions to sectors ranging from urban infrastructure, railways, water resources and supply, buildings and structures.

“We intend to enter the renewable power industry by targeting long-term based contracts, which will be able to provide the group with a stable revenue base,” said Tan Sri Ir. Kunasingam V Sittampalam, Executive Vice Chairman of HSS Engineers.

The IPO proceeds set aside for expansion in India will also include those allotted for ASEAN region.
