Meta cuts jobs and realigns teams for long-term goals

Tech giant Meta has announced a series of workforce adjustments, including layoffs and team restructuring, across its various units. The company is seeking to streamline its operations and align its resources with long-term strategic objectives.

Meta has confirmed that layoffs have occurred within Instagram, WhatsApp, and Reality Labs. While the exact number of affected employees remains undisclosed, sources suggest that the job cuts are relatively modest.

In addition to the layoffs, Meta is also implementing a significant team restructuring. This includes relocating teams to different geographical locations and reassigning employees to new roles within the company.

Separately, Meta has terminated two dozen employees in Los Angeles for allegedly misusing their daily meal allowances. These terminations are unrelated to the broader restructuring efforts and were implemented last week.

Meta's recent workforce adjustments are part of a larger cost-cutting initiative spearheaded by CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Since November 2022, the company has reduced its workforce by approximately 21,000 employees.

Despite these cost-cutting measures, Meta has continued to deliver strong financial performance.

The company surpassed market expectations for revenue in its second quarter and has issued a positive outlook for the third quarter, fueled by robust digital ad spending on its platforms.
