Volvo Car Malaysia announced on 11 August that it has appointed Charles Frump as the new Managing Director, replacing Nalin Jain who served the company for two years from 2019 to 2020. Frump on-boarded Volvo Car Malaysia from his prior role as Managing Director for Volvo Car India. He played a major role in growing India's competitive luxury car segment, further enhancing Volvo's market share and revenue.

In his new role, Frump will be responsible to handle and lead the company's operations and scale up its electrification approach in the region. Volvo Car Malaysia recently became the first company to accommodate the PHEV line-up for its every car model. It also successfully launched an electrified fleet of XC40PHEV in February this year.

Frump is delighted to join Volvo Malaysia at such a transitioning time, when the company is growing towards electrification and sustainability. Speaking about Volvo's approach towards sustainability and electrification, he mentioned the benefits it brings with itself to save the environment and reduce the life cycle carbon footprint per car through concrete action.  He is excited to embark on a new journey of sustainability, in a new market place and is looking forward to working with the local team closely.

With over 22 years of experience, an automotive veteran, Frump has experience in diverse markets across the globe including Asia, the USA and Europe. He has served various leadership, marketing, sales, customer service and management related roles in a number of companies throughout his career. Prior to Volvo, he worked at Ford Motor Company as Marketing Manager. Apart from this, Frump has worked at JET Program and Hewitt Associates.

Charles Frump completed his Bachelor's in Mathematics and Economics from St. Olaf College in 1992. He later pursued a Master's in Business Management with specialization in International Marketing from UCLA Anderson School of Management.
