Farhan Faruqui, new CFO of ANZ Bank, takes on the role from October this year
Multinational banking and financial services company, Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited(ANZ) announced Farhan Faruqui as its Chief Financial Officer. As CFO, he will be managing all the aspects of Finance as well as Treasury, Mergers, and Acquisitions, and Investor Relations. Faruqui will assume the role from October 2021, once the necessary regulatory requirements have been met. He will be based in Melbourne, reporting to Shayne Elliott, CEO of ANZ. Faruqui succeeds Shane Buggle who is retiring as the CFO after serving the company for 25 years.
Faruqui is currently Group Executive International in ANZ and will continue to be a member of the Group Executive Committee. In this role, he was heading ANZ’s institutional business in 19 markets across Asia, Europe, Middle East, and America. Prior to ANZ, he has also been the Head of Citi’s Corporate and Investment Bank in APAC as well as its Global Loans and Capital Markets business in the region.
On Faruqui’s appointment, Elliott stated that he has complete faith in Faruqui’s capabilities and believes that his strong financial acumen, strategic insight, and fresh thinking will benefit the company’s shareholders and customers. Faruqui will be gunning for growth in respective target segments across the bank.
