Luckin plans to open about 2,500 stories in 2019 in order to take over Starbucks in terms of the number of outlets in China.

Currently, Luckin is targeting to set up more than 4,500 stores by the end of 2019. Until then, Starbucks continues to be the corporation with the most number of stories with about 3,600 outlets across China.

Backed by Singapore sovereign wealth fund GIC Private Ltd. and China International Capital Corp Ltd., Luckin opened more than 2,000 locations in 2018. It is now valued at $ 2.2 Bn and even raised about $200 Mn in a funding round towards the end of last year.

Expanding its footprint as a one-stop-shop for China’s coffee needs, Luckin Coffee will be creating jobs on its way to adding new stores in the country. The company would be looking for people to run these storefronts as successful cafes where people can pre-order their caffeinated drinks, get them delivered or even pick up from one of the many stores.

Founded in late 2017, Luckin Coffee aims to replace Starbucks in China. The company started off with original funding of RMB 1 billion. As a competitor of Starbucks, Luckin brews their own coffee and serves it at a better rate than its competitor.
