CIMB Bank Singapore names new CEO

CIMB Bank Singapore has elevated Victor Lee as the new CEO. Lee will be replacing Mak Lye Mun, who will be retiring from his current role as the chief executive after having served in his role for the last 10 years. 

Lee is also the CEO of CIMB Group’s commercial banking arm. With more than 20 years of experience in retail and commercial banking sectors, Lee has worked in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesian banking landscape as well.

As the CEO of the Singapore branch of the Malaysian bank, Lee will focus on diversifying the business franchise, and boosting the four main pillars of the business which include partnerships, technology, establishing long-lasting relationships with external and internal customers, creating sustainable banking practices etc. These duties will not only be limited to the commercial banking arena but also extend to segments covering consumer and wholesale banking, in addition to investment and private banking space. 

“CIMB is established regionally to have a strong foothold in ASEAN and I intend to deepen that foothold especially in Singapore, where we have a deep treasury business,” said Lee, adding that the bank will be renewing its focus on the people aspect of banking i.e. both customers and employees.
