JPMorgan has named Sophie Qian as the head of its Equity Capital Markets (ECM) team for South-east Asia. She has been associated with the multinational investment bank for nine years.

Qian will now relocate to Singapore from New York later this year. The South-east Asia ECM team will report to the banker with immediate effect, as per media reports.

Qian joined JPMorgan’s US ECM team in 2021, where she focused on US/Asia cross-border deals and SPACs. Initially, she joined the multinational investment bank in Hong Kong in its China corporate finance team.

Now, Sophie Qian will report directly to JPMorgan’s co-heads of ECM, Peihao Huang and Sunil Dhupelia. Earlier this year, Novan Amirudin stepped down to become the co-CEO of Malaysian bank CIMB’s group wholesale banking business. He was the head of JPMorgan’s South-east Asia ECM team and was also its Malaysia investment banking chief.
