Global law firm Perkins Coie has welcomed Anthony Shannon as its chief people officer, bringing extensive expertise in strategic business advisory, legal compliance, and global talent management to the firm.

In his new role at Perkins Coie, Shannon is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the firm’s HR strategy, aligning people solutions with business objectives, and fostering a culture of continuous development and engagement.

Shannon will oversee key talent functions, including lawyer and staff recruitment, retention, benefits, learning and engagement, and employee relations.

The HR leader joins Perkins Coie from Kobre & Kim LLP, where he served as the global people officer since 2021, leading talent, training, and resource programs.

His career spans leadership roles in legal recruitment and HR, including positions as director of employee relations and HR business partners, interim chief talent officer, and assistant chief talent officer at a Connecticut municipality. He also has experience as an employment lawyer at Shipman & Goodwin LLP.

With a background as labour and employment counsel for domestic and international clients, Shannon has built a career as a strategic HR leader, looking after key operational functions such as talent acquisition, performance management, employee relations, and global mobility.

Shannon’s experience spans multiple international markets, including Brazil, Dubai, and Cyprus, where he has successfully implemented people-focused business strategies.

At his previous firm, Shannon spearheaded the company’s first culture survey, leveraging insights to drive meaningful workplace improvements.

His approach to HR combines data-driven decision-making with technological innovation to enhance workforce development, leadership training, and operational efficiencies.
