Fully remote startup Grain, has announced that it has raised $16 million in Series A funding led by Tiger Global Management, a boost in their quest to turn virtual zoom office meetings and lectures into video snippet libraries. Other investors in the round included Zoom, the Slack Fund, Unusual Ventures and Freestyle VC.

” We’re creating a video meeting system of record for content,” said Co-Founder and CEO Mike Adams in an interview with TechCrunch. “With Grain, employees can ‘click and collaborate’ around insights or topics or relationships or teams.”

“[Grain would become a ] library of insights that can allow a team to have and share a micro moment — even highlight reels of 10 meetings with customers — which will be a much more compelling way of sharing the reality of an experience,” he added.

The bottom line being that the four year old remote tech startup is “organising information so our customers can find signals in the chaos and noise,” notes Adams.

Grain had previously raised $4 Million in two seed rounds and with the latest funding, is focused on expanding their team, which currently employs 27 people around the globe.

Recently, Grain acquired PingPong, a video messaging platform backed by YC, Techstars and MatchStick Ventures, and brought aboard PingPong’s founder, Jeff Whitlock, as its head of operations. The startup plans to continue to build and expand their product while maintaining the base of foundation with Zoom.
