Sequoia-backed Airmeet gets $35 million funding
Sequoia Capital-backed virtual meet-up and networking platform Airmeet has raised $35 million from existing as well as new investors, led by Sistema Asia Fund and Prosus Ventures.
Other new investors such as RingCentral Ventures, KDDI Open Innovation Fund, DG Daiwa Ventures and Nexxus Global participated in this round along with existing backers Sequoia Capital India and Accel India.
"We will be channeling the additional funds towards expanding our footprints in the global market, investing heavily in product R&D, and scaling our GTM (go-to-market) function," Lalit Mangal, Airmeet's CEO & co-founder, said in a statement on the company's website.
"This (the funding) marks another milestone for our team at Airmeet as we scale our product offerings, customers and team globally. We are on the path to build Airmeet into your go-to audience engagement platform to help businesses, agencies & associations create immersive events & webinars for brand, content & pipeline acceleration."
The company said that since it started in 2019, it has enabled more than 120,000 event organizers to stream 150 million minutes of event video airtime to audiences around the globe.
The virtual events-hosting platform counts University College London, Rotman School of Management, Flipkart, Fifth Element Group, BMF Media, Unifrog Education, NPower Inc, Zircom (Shell Oil), and Viacom CBS among its key customers.
