Microsoft drops some Dynamics 365 HR apps for LinkedIn alternative

Microsoft drops some Dynamics 365 HR apps for LinkedIn alternative

Microsoft is gearing up to drop its bundle of Dynamics 365 Talent Attract and Talent Onboard apps from Feb. 1, 2022. The technology giant is advising its existing customers to shift to LinkedIn Talent Hub. Microsoft is transforming its core human resources capabilities that are contained in Dynamics 365 Talent in order to repackage it as Dynamics 365 Human Resources on February 3, 2020. 

Existing customers who are currently using Microsoft’s Dynamics HR capabilities will be moved to the Dynamics 356 Human Resources product, automatically. The current customers would be able to continue their Attract and Onboard products and can renew their contracts up until June 6, 2020. Critical bug support will still be available from Microsoft for Attract and Onboard until Feb. 1, 2022. However, new features will not be added to those products. 

The LinkedIn Talent Hub, is an application tracking system for sourcing, managing, and hiring built with the foundation of the core LinkedIn network. It also includes other tools such as LinkedIn Recruiter and Jobs into a single platform. 

Back in July 2017, Microsoft had launched its first human capital management system, Dynamics 365 Talent, which included a mechanism to integrate with LinkedIn Recruiter. 

“With LinkedIn solutions to attract, hire, and develop talent and with Dynamics 365 Human Resources to optimize HR programs and enable workforce insights, Microsoft can continue helping business leaders digitally transform HR practices and build winning teams where people can thrive,” according to a blog by Microsoft team.

This collaborative approach towards HR tech between Microsoft and LinkedIn is a signal that even giant tech companies are now increasingly open to leveraging the assets of their acquisitions in a bigger way. In 2016, LinkedIn proved to be Microsoft’s largest acquisition in history at $ 26.2 Bn.
