Uber CFO Nelson Chai to step down
Nelson Chai, chief financial officer (CFO) of the ride-hailing company Uber Technologies (UBER.N) has reportedly decided to exit from the company. His departure will be the most senior executive exit since the IPO.
According to the report, Chai conveyed his idea to step down as Uber CFO to CEO Dara Khosrowshahi. The departure time of Chai is yet to be made. He has been serving Uber as CFO since September 2018.
He joined Uber from the Chicago-based Warranty Group, an insurance and warranty provider, where he was CEO.
Nelson is equipped with more than a decade of experience in senior positions at some of the leading publicly traded financial services and insurance companies.
Previously, he spent more than five years at CIT Group, where he served as president. Before that, he was chief financial officer of Merrill Lynch & Co.; NYSE Euronext; and Archipelago Holdings.
Nelson serves on the board of Thermo Fisher Scientific, University of Pennsylvania, US Fund for Unicef. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Business Administration from the Harvard Business School.
He started his career with Pepsi Cola Company as a business planner in 1987.
