The E-commerce website Amazon is all set to recruit around 150,000 people in its regular annual hiring spree. This step has been taken to meet higher demands during the holiday shopping season.

Amazon announced a similar hiring target last year after struggling with slower sales. The company is seeking employees throughout its US fulfilment network, which is responsible for sorting, packaging and delivering products.

The company is planning to hire full-time, seasonal and part-time employees. Its seasonal workers for the holidays typically stay through the end of the year. Talking about the payment, the company revealed that it would increase the average starting pay for front-line warehouse employees from $18 an hour to $19 an hour.

Not only this, but Amazon also plans to invest hundreds of millions of dollars to boost wages and other benefits for drivers who deliver its packages.

Reportedly, Amazon is currently going through a tricky time. Therefore, it needs staff for what is its busiest time of the year while adjusting to slowing demand after a jump in online shopping throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.
