Disneyland is hiring for 8,000 new roles

Disneyland Paris has announced recruitment for 8,000 new positions over 2020 as part of a major extension of the tourist attraction. The recruitment involves hiring for the roles like engineers, architects and works managers.

The theme park, in Chessy on the outskirts of Paris, will be recruiting 1,000 jobs on permanent CDI contracts and 7,000 temporary roles by the end of 2020.

The extra jobs are part of a €2 billion extension to the park, adding 31 hectares of extra space to create zones for Marvel, Frozen and Star Wars that are planned to be finished by 2025.

Disneyland Paris says it is seeking architects, draughtsmen, civil and electrical engineers and works managers to work on the extension projects, as well as show designers for the more artistic aspects of the new zones.

The news of the extra jobs comes amid when France's unemployment levels continue to fall.

Earlier reported in media, in 2019 unemployment in France fell by 3.3 percent. It is the largest drop since 2008 and a 10 year low in the number of people seeking employment. It is also reported that, France has long been one of the worst performers in the EU for unemployment and has a stubbornly high rate of unemployed - especially the younger people.

France now has an unemployment rate of 8.5 percent, and president Emmanuel Macron has made a rate of seven percent the target by the end of 2020.
