The company led by Twitter's CEO is planning to launch its long awaited crypto project and make its first hire.

Back in March this year, Jack Dorsey announced the launch of a project called ‘Square Crypto’.

Then recently, in a Square Crypto tweeted that they are close to making their first hire.

"We are close to making our first hire," Square's cryptocurrency business wrote on Twitter. "So let’s set some expectations. True to @jack’s founding tweets, we are building open source projects that will make mass adoption not just possible but inevitable."

Reportedly, Square is the first and only publicly traded company to support Bitcoin purchases. And the company claims that Bitcoin mass adoption is “inevitable”.

The sales numbers for the company makes their statement stronger as Square reported $66.5 Mn in Bitcoin sales for the first quarter of 2019.

In March, Dorsey had also shared that Square would be hiring three or four bitcoin and cryptocurrency engineers and one designer to work full-time on "open source contributions to the bitcoin and crypto ecosystem." He even promised to pay them in bitcoin if they wanted.

The bitcoin price, following a disastrous 2018, has boosted this year again. The continued emergence of bitcoin will lead to the creation of more companies like Square Crypto in the ecosystem and create more demand for bitcoin and cryptocurrency engineers.

In fact, last year in October even when cryptocurrency prices were experiencing a slump, a study by Glassdoor found that crypto and blockchain-related job opportunities significantly increased in the U.S. As per the report, as of August 2018 there were 1,775 unique blockchain-related job openings in the U.S., while in 2017 there were 446 similar job ads, representing a 300 percent year-on-year increase. And with cryptocurrencies gaining back their relevance, these demand for such skills is sure to increase further.

It's high time companies across industries should start exploring the impact cryptocurrencies will have on them and re-look at their business strategies and skill requirements.
