Over 80% of Singapore-based employees are positive that digital technology presents them with new opportunities, according to the latest Workmonitor report by Randstad. The report, which surveyed 400 employees in Singapore, also found that 81% of employees said that they will need to acquire new skills if they want to work in a digital-led environmentwhile89% are willing to personally acquire these skills to guarantee their employability.

Over half, 58%, said that their employer is investing in new technologies in the field of AI such as machine learning, robotics, and automation. Most of the employees (74%) agreed that the emerging technologies will have a progressive impact on their job in the next five to ten years. A chunk of employees (72%) think that their employers should provide them with adequate training to learn new digital skills and amp up productivity, while51% said that their employers are already doing so. Meanwhile, 63% are taking matters into their own hands, stating that they are investing in themselves to learn about AI.

The Randstad Singapore work mobility index for Q4 2018 showed that overall, the workforce Mobility Index is moderate in Singapore in quarter four of 2018. Compared to the previous quarter, job satisfaction increased two points to 60% in quarter four last year.

The number of respondents who are actively looking for a job increased slightly from 9.4% to 9.6% in quarter four. Approximately 22% of the respondents said that they had changed job in the past six months, a decrease from 28% in the previous quarter. This decrease is expected in quarter four as employees tend to stay on to receive their annual bonus.
