Jong-Hee Han to lead Samsung's newly merged SET Division
As part of an internal reorganisation of its businesses, Samsung Electronics also reshuffles its top management. The company will have two new CEOs leading two new divisions.
A new SET Division that includes mobile, TVs, and consumer electronics, will be led by Jong-Hee (JH) Han, who has been promoted to Vice Chairman and CEO. The company describes him as a leading expert in TV research and development, who has played a major role in helping Samsung achieve the top position in global TV sales for the 15th consecutive year. Now, as Jong-Hee takes on a new responsibility, his key focus will be building synergies between different businesses and spearheading the team towards innovation and growth.
Device Solutions, which is the semiconductors business, will be led by is Kyehyun Kyung, previously CEO of Samsung Electro-Mechanics. An expert in semiconductor design, Kyehyun has also led Samsung Electronics’ Flash Product & Technology Team and has been part of the DRAM Design Team. In the new role, he would be helping maintain the Company’s semiconductor leadership and lead innovation in the components business.
With a newly merged division in place, Samsung has also named new heads of North American offices for both the SET and DS divisions. It has also named Hark Kyu Park, President and Chief Financial Officer, who was previously President and Head of the Corporate Management Office, DS Division.
With this reshuffling, Samsung Electronics looks to strengthen its business competitiveness and be better prepared fot its next phase of growth.
