SINGAPORE – AIA Singapore has announced the appointment of Afees Ashroff as its new Chief Technology Officer with immediate effect.

Ashroff will report directly to Wong Sze Keed, CEO of AIA Singapore.

Wong expressed her enthusiasm about the new appointment, stating: “I am confident that Afees will be a strong addition to my management team and will continue to drive AIA Singapore’s digitalisation agenda across our organisation to deliver the best service experience for our customers.

Customer-centricity at AIA Singapore

Having joined AIA Singapore in 2018, Ashroff brings over 20 years of extensive experience in the banking and insurance sectors to his new role.

Prior to Ashroff's promotion to the C-Suite, he served as the Head of Digital Technology, where he played a crucial role in advancing the company's digital initiatives.

As CTO, Ashroff will focus on enhancing customers’ digital experiences by developing and implementing state-of-the-art technology strategies that align with AIA Singapore’s vision and business priorities as a life insurer, the company announced.

AIA Singapore says it places a premium on its brand reputation as a customer-centric insurer, and that Ashroff's appointment will work to support their thrust.

Tribute to a tech industry veteran

Ashroff succeeds Peter Lee, who has stepped down to focus on personal matters.

Wong also paid tribute to Lee for his contributions. “I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Peter and his efforts in steering the team. Peter is a highly respected industry veteran and will be fondly remembered for his positive influence in creating a cohesive culture within the technology division. We wish him all the very best in his future endeavours.”
