Luxury car maker Audi appoints Abraham Schot as the interim CEO after the CEO Rupert Stadler was arrested over emissions cheating. Audi has released Stadler from his positions on the management boards of Audi and its parent company, Volkswagen.

Audi said it had agreed to suspend Stadler "until the circumstances that led to his arrest have been clarified." It said Monday that he would be considered innocent until proven guilty. It can be recalled that Stadlar arrested on Monday in an alleged connection with parent company Volkswagen's "dieselgate" emissions cheating scandal.

The development comes a week after Munich prosecutors raided Stadler's home after charging him with fraud and the falsification of documents that allowed diesel vehicles equipped with cheating software to be sold to European customers.
