SINGAPORE – Logistics company DHL Express has named Peter Bardens the new Senior Vice President for Asia Pacific Network Operations & Aviation. His new role is effective from 1 September.

Working out of Singapore, Bardens will leverage his expertise in managing ground operations in Europe to oversee DHL's aviation network and ground operations across APAC. He will also become a member of the DHL Express Asia Pacific Management Board.

Bardens succeeds Sean Wall, who will transition to a global role overseeing ground operations starting 1 January 2025. Wall will continue to be based in Singapore.

DHL Express said these leadership changes highlight its commitment to talent mobility and operational continuity by utilising diverse skill sets across different markets.

Ken Lee, CEO of DHL Express Asia Pacific, said of the appointment: "Peter has a proven track record of delivering results and driving operational excellence in Europe. His competence in operations planning and people-first leadership approach will be instrumental to bolstering our Asia-Pacific network and meeting our customer demands."

'Highly demanding' logistics sector

Bardens will be responsible for managing a vast logistics network that includes over 25 freighters, 7,200 pick-up and delivery vehicles, and 1,100 facilities across the region. This network supports approximately 710 flights daily, facilitating the movement of cross-border shipments between Asia Pacific and other parts of the world.

Commenting on his new role, Bardens said: "Asia Pacific's logistics is highly demanding. I am honoured to lead and guide the passionate and adaptable team here that has constantly shown a positive attitude to operate and deliver with precision, and relentless efficiency."

Prior to this appointment, Bardens served as Vice President of Ground Operations in Europe, where he played a key role in enhancing the efficiency, safety, and service quality of DHL’s hubs in Cologne-Bonn and Paris-Charles de Gaulle.
