Cloud-based webcasting and virtual events specialist ON24 has appointed people leader May O’Neal as chief human resources officer in its bid to develop high-performance teams, strengthen leadership at all levels and foster a culture of accountability and innovation, the company said.

With two decades of expertise in HR and talent management to her name, O’Neal will spearhead the global HR function.

Prior to joining ON24, O’Neal was chief people officer at Varo Bank, the first all-digital consumer bank in the US with a national banking charter.

The seasoned HR leader also previously held the same role at WageWorks, where she spent more than a decade leading a mission-critical team. There, O’Neal was instrumental as the company steered through its IPO. She also helped lead multiple acquisitions and created an engaged internal culture.

“May is a proven leader with a strong track record of fostering people-first cultures, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome her to ON24,” said ON24 CEO Sharat Sharan.

O’Neal has worked with companies on track for high growth and during critical periods in their success.

Early in her career, O’Neal played a pivotal role in the return to the public markets of Zilog – a manufacturer of microprocessors and specialised chips – where she led the HR function with a steady guiding hand.

The experience gave her the foundation to lead in senior management during vital periods of transition in her subsequent roles.

Now, O’Neal joins ON24 as the company gears up for the integration of artificial intelligence into its proprietary solutions. This includes an engagement platform that connects businesses to their target communities, the company said.
