Singtel Group CEO becomes President of CPA

She was nominated as an alternate member of the council by President Halimah Yacob. Her appointment takes effect from today and it will remain active until Jan 1, 2023.
Singtel Group CEO becomes President of CPA

Group Chief Executive Officer of Singtel, Chua Sock Koong has been appointed as the new President for Council of Presidential Advisers (CPA). 

She was nominated as an alternate member of the council by President Halimah Yacob. Her appointment takes effect from today and it will remain active until Jan 1, 2023.

Chua Sock Koong said that she was "extremely honoured" to be appointed to the council, adding: "I hope to contribute to the Council’s diversity of views and look forward to advising President Halimah as she exercises her custodial powers.”

She was appointed Group Chief Executive Officer in April 2007, Sock Koong directs Singtel’s global strategy and oversees its consumer, enterprise and digital businesses. Before helming Singtel as Group CEO, Sock Koong served in various key capacities within the company, most notably CEO International and Group CFO, after first joining as Treasurer in 1989. 

Apart from Ms Chua, CPA also appointed Eddie Teo, the former chairman of the Public Service Commission and Presidential Council for Religious Harmony as Chairman of the CPA from Jan 2 to Jun 1, 2020.

The chairman and CEO of Ho Bee Group, Chua Thian Poh, was also appointed as a member of the CPA from Jan 2 to Jun 1, 2024. Prior to this, he was an alternate member of the council.
