SoftBank-backed Swiggy hires Rohit Kapoor as CEO for its food marketplace business

Food delivery behemoth Swiggy has announced the appointment of Rohit Kapoor as Chief Executive Officer of Food Marketplace. A CFI Institute alumni, Kapoor would be headlining the food delivery business, driving strategies, brand growth, and fostering technical innovations.  

Sriharsha Majety, CEO of Swiggy said, “We are excited to welcome Rohit to Swiggy. Our food marketplace has continued to evolve over the last few years and has the potential to grow further under focused leadership. Rohit’s work experiences bring a unique perspective to the role.”

Kapoor is a veteran with over twenty years of industry experience ranging from sales to finance in leading companies such as Max India Limited and McKinsey & Company. Previously, he was working at OYO in various leadership capacities such as CEO of India & Southeast Asia operations and Global CMO, for close to four years. 

He started his career at McKinsey & Company as a management consultant in 2000 and his career journey took him to Max India, Max Healthcare, Oyo and now, Swiggy. 

“Over the years, it's been a learning for me to watch Swiggy’s food business grow in size and popularity. This is a tremendous opportunity for me and I look forward to working with Harsha [Majety] and the team,” said Rohit Kapoor, CEO of Swiggy-Food Marketplace.

Kapoor did his Post Graduate Diploma (Equivalent to MBA) in Business Administration and Management from Indian School of Business.

Swiggy was recently in the news as the company announced its permanent work-from-anywhere policy which would bode well with their 5000-plus employees.
