Melvin Heng, a physician and healthcare executive with first-hand experience in hospital management will succeed Wong Chiang Yin as new CEO of Thomson Medical Group.
Thomson Medical names Gleneagles’ Melvin Heng as new group CEO

Healthcare provider Thomson Medical Group has named Melvin Heng as the new group CEO. Heng will succeed Wong Chiang Yin, who resigned in late August. Heng is currently serving as chief executive officer (CEO) of Gleneagles Hospital. His appointment to the post will be effective from December 1.

Heng will continue to serve Gleneagles Hospital until Oct 31. Before becoming CEO of Gleneagles Hospital in 2019, Heng was working as assistant vice president of operations. He joined the IHH brand in September 2017.

Earlier, Heng served Singapore’s Ministry of Health from 2016 to 2018 as a medical advisor. In 2018 he co-founded digital healthcare start-up Mesh Bio, where he remains an alternate director.

In the earlier years of his career, Heng worked as a medical doctor at the UK’s National Health Service as well as Singapore’s Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Heng is a physician and healthcare executive with first-hand experience in hospital management, primary and specialist clinics, teleradiology, medtech and aeromedical evacuations.
