SINGAPORE – Global payments company Thunes has named Jane Jackson as its new chief people officer.

Overseeing Thunes’ people strategy, Jackson will report directly to CEO Floris de Kort as they build on the vision of developing the company’s talent as its differentiator in the market.

Jackson will lead the mission of fostering a strong organisational culture, enhancing efficiency, and advancing talent initiatives across 14 international locations.

With over 15 years of leadership experience in people functions at Xplor Technologies, Worldpay, Kilnbridge, Dyson, and DHL, Jackson has a track record of building and scaling people teams in fast-growing global businesses.

Her expertise covers strategic transformation, organisational design, talent acquisition and retention, rewards, and employee engagement.

In her new role, Jackson will also steer Thunes’ diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, strengthen engagement among more than 450 Thunesters representing over 60 nationalities, and shape the company’s people strategy to support its global expansion goals.

Thunes’ Direct Global Network enables users to process payments in real time across 130+ countries and using over 80 currencies. The proprietary network includes over 7 billion mobile wallets and bank accounts globally.

Building Thunes’ people infrastructure

Jackson lauded the company’s contribution to the global payments market. “Thunes has a remarkable global footprint and clear momentum,” Jackson said.

“I look forward to partnering with Floris and the leadership team to build a people infrastructure that empowers our Thunesters globally and supports our growth.”

De Kort highlighted Jackson’s ability to bolster team performance in line with Thunes’ long-standing people strategy.

“As a truly international business, Thunes depends on a robust people strategy to bring our global team together,” de Kort said.

Our talent is the true long-term differentiator in our business.

“Jane’s expertise in cultivating high-performing workforces will be pivotal in strengthening our culture and propelling our growth.”

Thunes’ expansion in APAC

Thunes is on track to expand and onboard more partners in APAC and globally.

Earlier this month, it added PayPal’s Hyperwallet service to its network. The partnership allows customers to send money quickly to 450 million accounts in Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, South Korea, and Vietnam.

Asia Pacific presents hypergrowth opportunities for companies like Thunes. Almost 70% of global digital wallet spend comes from the region, making it a sought-after market for cross-border payment services.

Thunes’ partnership with Hyperwallet will open up new avenues for digital payments to APAC’s ecosystem of super apps for ride-hailing, marketplaces and social networking channels.

“Welcoming PayPal’s Hyperwallet into our Direct Global Network underscores our ability to provide powerful new capabilities to top-tier fintechs,” de Kort said.

“Thunes is uniquely positioned to support Hyperwallet to increase its reach in fast growing geographies to enhance its cross-border payment services.”
