Aircrafts’ maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services body, Sapura Technics is set to enter Malaysia in July. 

Sapura Technics is set to open at Senai Airport in Senai, Jahor, Malaysia after it receives regulatory approval, from the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) in July.

The Sapura Resources Behrad owns Sapura Technics, is taking over two hangars that each accommodate one narrowbody aircraft from Sapura Airport, which provides aircraft management services to more than 25 private aircraft owners and operators there.

The setup of Sapura Technics would support not only the growing needs of the commercial aircraft MRO demand but also fuel the creation of new high-demand job opportunities.

According to the reports, the MRO sector is said to be in a booming phase in Malaysia.

MRO demand in Asia is booming, with Malaysian market alone generating about $1 billion in 2018.

In the context of the extended profitability period ever in the commercial aviation industry, MRO sector is looking pretty healthy, too.

Commercial air transport MRO market demand in the Asia Pacific is accounted for $24.5 billion as of 2019, and the number is expected to grow by 5.3% in a decade.

Earlier in an event, Amrul Zeflin Anim from Sapura Technics suggested that in Asian case the MRO market has all chances to stay solidly competitive and productive if it uses innovations to ensure stable growth. Making investments in workforce training is essential to close the gap between demand and present workforce numbers.
