British Airways COO and Director of People to resign

Klaus Goersch, Chief Operating Officer, and Angela Williams, Director of People, with British Airways are leaving the company at the backdrop of several managerial changes within the organization.

Long-time Chief Executive Willie Walsh is stepping down in March and will be replaced by Luis Gallego, Iberia Chief. The airline saw a pilot walkout as a result of a pay dispute pointing towards a tension-filled year for British Airways’ executives.

Goersch is planning to move back to North America, according to the British Airways statement. Williams on the other hand will continue to work with the company for a few more months.

Such major changes in the leadership of the aviation giant are an additional damper on an already bleak state of affairs for the aviation sector in general. Perhaps, a transformation in the leadership would result in transformations in the way the airline operates.
