The former CEO of EHR Vendor Athenahealth, Jonathan Bush has joined Firefly Health as Executive Chairman. Firefly provides patients primary care through a digital application as well as clinic and employer visits.

Earlier this week the company announced that it has closed $10.2 million in a financing round led by F-Prime Capital and Oak HC/FT. Jonathan Bush has invested in Firefly in April, but his role as Executive Chairman was publicly disclosed in that funding announcement.

According to the media reports, the newly appointed Executive Chairman said that he will spend at least half of his time in the near future with Firefly. He will provide guidance to the company's CEO Andy Ellner but merely as a part-time job.

"I want to make sure I don't overcrowd the CEO," he said.

Jonathan Bush cofounded Athenahealth in 1997. He resigned from his roles as president, CEO and member of the company's board in 2018 after activist Elliot Management assumed operations of the Watertown, Mass.-based EHR vendor.

Carl Byers, F-Prime general partner, and Nancy Brown, Oak general partner, will also join Firefly's board of directors, according to the report. Both Byers and Brown previously served as executives at Athenahealth alongside Bush.
