Ex Singapore tourism board CEO to join Singapore Sports Hub

He will take charge in February 2020, taking over duties from Chairman Bryn Jones. Jones was the acting CEO after former head Oon Jin Teik left the company in April this year.
Ex Singapore tourism board CEO to join Singapore Sports Hub

Singapore Sports Hub has roped in Lionel Yeo as their upcoming  Chief Executive Officer. He will take charge in February 2020, taking over duties from Chairman Bryn Jones. Jones was the acting CEO after former head Oon Jin Teik left the company in April this year.

As the new CEO, Yeo will work closely with the team and deliver annual programmes. These comprise recreational and competitive events, as well as community events, to serve children, youth, working adults, seniors and families in Singapore and the tourism sectors. Currently, the Singapore Sports Hub’s calendar of sports, entertainment and lifestyle events now has more than 210 events or more than 400 event days annually.

Yeo is also serving as an advisor at Grab and a board member at StarHub. He was previously the CEO of Singapore Tourism Board (STB) for over six years. Yeo first took on the role with STB in June 2012, and spearheaded the development of “Passion Made Possible”, a unified brand for Singapore launched in August 2017 together with the Economic Development Board and Ministry of Communications and Information.

In a media statement, Yeo said that the Singapore Sports Hub is a major national project that he had been involved with during his time in government service. He is also upbeat about the upcoming challenges that SportsHub faces and also the potential company possess.
