Malaysian lifestyle property developer IOI Properties has appointed Dato' Voon Tin Yow as its new CEO effective April 15, the company said in a stock exchange announcement on April 14. He takes over from Lee Yeow Seng, who has been designated executive vice-chairman.

Dato' Voon has 35 years of experience in the construction and property development industry. Prior to joining IOI Properties, he served as executive director of EcoWorld Development Group from 2015 to February 2020. He also spent 18 years as COO of SP Setia, including a stint as executive director on the company's board, and a brief period as acting president and CEO in 2014 while the company underwent an extensive change of its top leadership. He graduated from the University of Texas with a Master of Science in Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.

As CEO, he will be responsible for the overall management of IOI's business segments of property development, property investment, and hospitality and leisure.

IOI Properties non-executive chairman Dato' Tan Kim Leong said the appointments would enhance the executive leadership of the team. “The appointment will also strengthen the group’s position as one of the leading property developers in Malaysia,” Dato' Tan said.
