London-based consumer goods company Unilever on Tuesday named Nitin Paranjpe, the current chief operating officer of Unilever, as the chief transformation officer (CTO) and chief people officer (CPO), reports said.

Paranjpe will take up the new roles on April 1.

In his new roles, Paranjpe will handle business transformation and head the human resources (HR) functions.

Last month, Leena Nair, the previous chief human resources officer (CHRO) of Unilever, was named as global CEO of French fashion group Chanel. Nair spent about three decades at the consumer goods company and was also a member of Unilever Leadership Executive.

The company recently announced the reorganisation of the company’s business into five different groups - Beauty & Wellbeing, Personal Care, Home Care, Nutrition, and Ice Cream. The reorganisation is aimed at bringing more efficiency to the workings of the company.

Unilever believes that moving to five category-focused business groups will enable the company to be more responsive to consumer and channel trends, with crystal-clear accountability for delivery.

Prior to the restructuring, the company had three main divisions – Foods & Refreshments, Home Care, and Personal Care.
