Malaysian RHB Banking Group (RHB) has announced the appointments of group head of retail banking, chief operations officer and group chief digital and technology officer effective from 1st of August.

The banking group said in a statement today that Rakesh Kaul had been appointed as new group head of retail banking, leading its retail franchise across segments, products and channels, while focusing on digitization and customer-centricity.

Rakesh has worked with Citigroup for 22 years across Asian markets and business groups. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Delhi University and Post Graduate Diplomas in Business Management and International Trade from Birla Institute of Management Technology and Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, in New Delhi, India.

Nazri Othman, the existing acting head of RHB’s Group retail banking, will take on the role of Chief Operations Officer. Operational excellence will be a key agenda for Nazri, who will also focus on boosting customer service excellence and satisfaction in line with the group’s focus on digitization.

In addition, Rohan Krishnalingam, who is the current group chief operations officer, will take on the role of group chief digital and technology officer. He will spearhead all aspects of the RHB Group’s technology function and drive the adoption of AGILE@Scale as part of its strategic focus to create a winning operating model.
