Samiran Gupta to head public policy for Twitter in India
Twitter has appointed Samiran Gupta to lead the public policies department across India and South Asia. The announcement was made on February 24 through a tweet made by Kathleen Reen, Senior Director Public Policy and Philanthropy, APAC, Twitter.
The tweet read, “Pleased to welcome @Samiran01 to @Twitter to lead our public @Policy & philanthropy efforts in India & S Asia. A deeply respected leader in public affairs & tech policy, we’re excited Samiran joins our journey toward an inclusive & open Internet that empowers public conversation.”
According to a report carried out by Moneycontrol, prior to this appointment, Gupta was associated with The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), a non-profit organisation. He served there for seven years. He was also briefly the firm's head of stakeholder engagement for the South Asia market.
The news of the appointment comes almost a year after the former Public Policy Director for India and South Asia Mahima Kaul resigned.
