VMware appoints a series of new C-suite and regional leaders

Cloud services company VMware has announced the appointment of Laura Heisman as Chief Marketing Officer, effective February 2022. She takes over from Carol Carpenter, who has left to pursue a new venture - both of them separately confirmed the change of leadership in personal LinkedIn posts yesterday.

Heismann has decades of experience with marketing and communications for tech firms. She joins VMware from GitHub, where she headed the communications and corporate marketing function, and prior to that, she was with Citrix for over a decade as head of communications.

Heisman's appointment is the latest in a series of recent changes to VMware's go-to-market leadership. Also this month, Sylvain Cazard was named General Manager for Asia Pacific and Japan, moving from his previous role overseeing VMware's operations in Central Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

“Laura brings a great combination of enterprise infrastructure and developer experience that will help us accelerate our marketing efforts in this multi-cloud era. And Sylvain’s customer-centric mindset and deep sales experience will help jumpstart a fantastic next chapter of growth for the company and the team in APJ,” commented VMware President Sumit Dhawan.

And just a few months ago, in October and November respectively, the firm had appointed John Sabino, former Chief Customer Officer of Splunk, as Chief Customer Experience Officer, followed by Zia Yusuf, former Silicon Valley Managing Director at BCG, to lead strategic ecosystem and industry solutions.
