Workplace training platform for distributed teams Hone raises $3.6 Mn in seed funding
Hone, the reimagined workplace training platform for modern and distributed teams, has raised $3.6 Mn in a seed round led by Cowboy Ventures and Harrison Metal. Additional investors who participated include Slack Fund, Reach Capital, Rethink Education, Day One Ventures, Entangled Ventures, CEO of Masterclass David Rogier, CEO of Guild Education Rachel Carlson, Co-Founder of Atrium HQ Pete Kazanjy, and Co-Founder of Grovo Jeff Fernandez.
The funds will accelerate Hone’s platform expansion, support the company’s rapid growth, and develop additional programs to serve fast-growing small businesses, mid-market and enterprise organizations.
Tom Griffiths, CEO and Co-Founder of Hone stated, “As organizations grow ever more distributed, we were inspired to create Hone to modernize how the world’s best companies develop their current and future leaders. We’re thrilled to have this exceptional set of partners with us on that mission.”
Hone’s client list includes WeWork, Clear, App Annie, Dashlane, Omada Health, SoulCycle, and others. The company is advised by top executive coaches, psychologists and practitioners to ensure its training is best-in-class and welcomes to its advisory team Josh Bersin, founder of Bersin™ by Deloitte and global industry analyst.
As teams grow more geographically dispersed than ever and more and more employees working remotely, Hone aims to displace the current, traditionally expensive, time-consuming workshops and pre-recorded e-learning videos that are not fit for remote workforces neither provide the interaction and feedback necessary to develop critical people skills.
With this end in mind, Hone provides a large-scale platform for synchronous, online instructor-led training programs, enabling the spectrum of live corporate training needs in a single solution. With a focus on high-impact topics of leadership, management, and people skills, Hone’s interactive, 60-90 minute classes make training easy like a meeting on your calendar, with continuous support and uniquely measurable impacts on the organization.
Josh Bersin, Global Industry Analyst, adds, “Live, expert-led experiences are still one of the most compelling ways to learn. Hone’s innovative platform has the potential to unleash expert and instructor-led training in a highly scalable, engaging, and modern way.”
Today’s distributed workforce does need a novel product like Hone to reimagine training. How successful will it be in the face of increasing competition will be interesting to watch out for.
