HSBC has appointed David Gareth Thomas as the new Head of Human Resources for Asia Pacific and Group General Manager at HSBC.

At HSBC, he will manage the HR function to lead the development of strategic human resources policies and practices across the Asia Pacific region.

He will play an instrumental role in executive relationship management and counsel to the group managing director and regional leaders on all HR capital-related issues, including organization design and structure, executive resourcing and reward, and people implications of mergers or acquisitions.

Before joining HSBC, he was working with Manulife Financial (Asia) as Head of HR and Senior VPfor five years. With over 30 years of leadership experience in global, regional and country roles. Having worked in Asia, the Middle East, Africa, the United Kingdom and North America, David brings a broad, global perspective to the teams he leads. His subject matter expertise includes - transformational leadership, strength-based talent development, digital business transformation, corporate governance, employee engagement, world class team performance/culture & Mergers & Acquisitions effectiveness.

He started his career with British Steel and have worked with companies like The Chase, NetWest Markets,  Royal Bank of Scotland, Standard Chartered Bank, Manulife Financial.
