Jeff Shell, the CEO of NBCUniversal, has stepped down from his position, with immediate effect.  He quit the company after an investigation into “inappropriate conduct,”. He was named CEO in January 2020, replacing Steve Burke. April 23 was his last day as CEO of NBCUniversal.

As CEO, Shell was responsible for taking care of entertainment and news assets including Universal Pictures film studio, NBC News and MSNBC, the cable channels Bravo and E!, and other well-known brands.

Comcast CEO Brian L. Roberts and  President Mike Cavanagh in a joint statement to Comcast and NBCUniversal employees said they were “disappointed to share this news with you.”

“We built this company on a culture of integrity,” Roberts and Cavanagh said. “Nothing is more important than how we treat each other. You should count on your leaders to create a safe and respectful workplace. When our principles and policies are violated, we will always move quickly to take appropriate action, as we have done here.”

“I’m truly sorry I let my Comcast and NBCUniversal colleagues down,” Shell was quoted as saying.
